1sts best result of the season away the Trinity 2nds

Mullingar went one up early away to Trinity 2nds through a great cross from Stuey Synnott to Couper at the back post. Trinity reacted well and equalised.
Chris Bull made his 1st appearance of the season and contributed to Mullingar’s second, smashing a ball in for Holger Marl who deflected in between the keeper’s legs to put the Gar back in front.

What followed was a hockey masterclass by Mullingar who scored 5 unanswered goals..

Marc Watters scored 2 in a row, his first smashed into the bottom corner and second goal from a tight angle.

Rice then scored 2 in a row, both goals superb solo efforts and well finished.

Watters managed to bag a hat trick after Couper did some great work in middle and gave a nice back stick pass for Watters to ping into the goal.

Trinity managed a second as Mullingar took the foot of the accelerator.

All in all a strong performance from gar, strong game from the experienced defence, Feely, Woody, Bull, Clenndenning and Stephen O’ Neill. Both midfield and Attack showing excellent teamwork throughout. Crowley made his outfield debut and put in a great shift up front. Man of the match could have gone to any of the 12 players.

Some minor discipline issues led to 1 yellow and 1 green card. Ed kept great control of the game throughout.

Special mention to the players who played seconds previously and put in 140 minutes of hockey!

MOM: Colin Draper, who gave 100% for 70 minutes. Draper’s work rate in midfield was second to none!

Thanks to Ed Lyndsay for umpiring.
